Trying out Windows Live Writer

Thought I’d check out Windows Live Writer…I really like all the extra “stuff” it has. Thumbs up

The last few days have been really productive! I’ve put binding on two snuggle quilts and finished the quilting on another for the firehouse. The binding on the 3rd will get done today! Yea! Rolling on the floor laughing I am trying to get the stack of tops I have done turned into quilts so I can get them donated to the fire department before we move. I am excited about the move…but dread the packing and cleaning…ugg…

We’re in the middle of buying our first home. Exciting and scary all at the same time. We had our inspection yesterday afternoon and for the most part it went really well. A couple thing that need attention, but nothing horrible that would want to make us walk away from the house.

It’s going to be a lovely day today! I think a walk is in order later on! Will leave you with a quilty picture just so I can try out the photo part of this program. Winking smile

Strings!

I'm playing with string blocks today. =0) I love making these...so easy and a great way to reduce some of my scraps. I've been working almost exclusively out of my scrap bin since the beginning of the year. Funny thing about scraps...they don't ever seem to go away. :/ I think I'll spend some of this weekend chopping up more of my scraps into usable sizes. One of these days I'll get them organized. lol =3

Happy Stitching! Trish

I haven't posted anything about Chester in a LONG time...so I thought it would be good to give an update. So far I've quilted more than 3/4 of the center blocks and the first inner border. Triple diagonal lines are easy, but time consuming...The inner border is a twist which I like as it offers a new texture. The pieced border will have more triple diagonal lines and some sort of wreath or flower in the open spaces...and the last wide grapevine border will probably have some sort of curvy filler quilting so that the quilting is even across the surface. I am really hoping that I can get this quilt finished by next fall for our bed. I love it! <3 So...6 months?...doable...maybe...lol

I had to put a picture of Jersey in here too...he's such a silly cat. Must be wherever you are and part of the action. teehee

snuggly quilt for the firehouse. :)

Here's a picture of the most recent top finished for donation to the firehouse. I have probably 7-10 tops that need to be finished up and then taken over. I had a lot of fun using up these 9 patches that have been hanging around the house for close to a decade! sad...I know. :? The streak of lightning setting was a joy to put together and I will definitely be using it again! Great way to quick use up those sad little orphan blocks.

Doll quilts

Just a quick post because I couldn't get all 4 of these to post where I wanted them in the message above...so here they are. These are a few of the doll quilts that I've finished this year. I know there's pictures of others...but I can't find them on my computer. :? Maybe they're on Rachael's...she uploads pictures from the camera to her computer as well...

UPDATE! (long needed)

Yikes! It's been busy around here! Right now I'm in the middle of baking up several batches of cookies/candies for the fire house's flower and bake sale this weekend. I needed a break, that last batch has made my arms sore. :? They should turn into lovely iced sugar cookies in the end. I have got to get a bigger food processor if I'm ever to make those again or any other cookies that call for a food processor for that matter. We still are using the little one we received as a wedding gift (almost 20 years ago!) which is great for chopping up a cup of nuts or making bread crumbs...but not for mixing dough. So I had to mix mine in small batches which took forever. Then I had to try to combine those batches together by hand. Think I'll switch gears while it chills and make some candies. Requires no kneading...lol

On the quilty front, I've been working on a few ufo's. Still plugging away at hand quilting Chester. I have about 3/4 of the center and plain inner border quilted. So that feels good! Still making my little Farmer's Wife blocks. I think I'm up to # 42. :) Pulled out my Grandmother's Flower Garden and started working on that again. It's one of those projects that goes in spurts. I seem to feel the need to work on it late in the winter. Maybe it's my way of willing spring to arrive. It's so bright and cheery. I've also started making the blocks for Barbara Brackman's Civil War Quilts. I need to hurry up and get this weeks done so I don't fall behind.

Rachael is gearing up for college. :) So excited for her! She's applied to UCONN and now we are just waiting to hear back from them. Laura is getting ready to try out for the Freshmen Softball team at NFA. I hope she makes it! Mathew is, Mathew...busy with playing video games and playing outside in the snow. lol

Back to baking! =3

Almost Christmas!

Okay...so now October isn't sounding so bad. lol It is not mid December and Christmas is less than 2 weeks away. Still have a little bit of shopping and decorating to do. Looking forward to my house being in order. It's disasterous...looks like a Christmas decorating tornado blew through the place dropping and tossing Christmasy stuff all over the place but not anywhere that it belongs. >_< I just finished another little doll quilt for a QATW swap. I really like the way it turned out. :) At some point I will get pictures of the last few doll quilts I've made.

I'm in the mood to bake Christmas cookies...there's always so many kinds that we want to have on hand...Peanut butter cookies with chocolate kisses, Russian teacakes, chocolate fudge, gingerbread and sugar cookies, date nut bars, spritz cookies...some with colored sugar and some with jelly. Mmmm... :p There are others I know but if I even get half of those baked BEFORE Christmas I'll be amazed. o_O

Happy Holidays! Trish =3
